Mobile Minutes: Spring Rain

image

It’s been raining most of the day.
Not that cold, nasty, winter rain. That warm rain, the one where you feel the humidity in the air, a light, warm, southwestern breeze.
It’s that rain I lost down south, the rain that soothed my soul. The reminder of cleansing and changes of seasons.
This time last year there was over 13″ of snow on the ground. The whole area was paralyzed. Frigid temperatures, and misery for all. My diet consisted of Ramen noodles, triscuits, and whatever my ex-wife brought home from Chili’s after work. I just started back at Subway. Income was flowing in. Bills were getting paid. Change was taking place.
I just didn’t realize how much.
Now I’m sitting outside of a Starbucks, deep into the metro of Kansas City, Kansas. My wife is gone, my life is nuts, and the rain has seemed to change.
I’ve seemed to change.
Before I embark on my journey back home for the night, only to revisit these seats tomorrow; I leave not words of my own, but of a writer far greater than I:

And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for anotherday! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

…I never went back.

Mobile Minutes: Double Dipping

Note: Before I begin this piece, let it be known that due to job security matters for myself, and others, specific business details must be kept at a ‘dl’ level at the moment. With at said; the moment that anything official is announced, it will become public.

…now that the legal jargon is out of the way…

Truthfully, the beauty of having your own website is dictating what is and isn’t said along the page [for the most part]. While some pages are just about faith, and others are just about work, in my own strange little sandbox [minus that surprises from the cats] I get to blend it all together.

It went something like this…

I was heading home last night, rather frustrated, confused, and all around lost in my ways of life. I’ve been so busy with so many different things that I was unsure where I was supposed to go with my path of life. I could feel God burning in me [not to be mistaken for the ribs I ingested yesterday], but wasn’t sure where to go. So, I just pleaded [begged] that He show me anything; whether it be with work, soccer Guatemala, anything; I just needed some serious guidance because it was eating at me. I just didn’t understand.

This is all said due to the events that transpired later today. While at ‘work’, I was talking to a ‘official’ with the ‘company’ [catching on yet?]. While discussing ‘work’, the bit about WPSLKC came up. The ‘official’ was quick to pipe up that their ‘official supervisor’ was a huge soccer fan, and loved the concept of development [considering the line of work we're in, I'm not surprised]. So, to humor myself, I kept talking to this ‘official’ about these ideas with this potential soccer team [I truly was just enjoying myself at this point], and this ‘official’ brought up the idea of funding through the ‘company’ that they ‘work’ for, though this ‘official supervisor’. Humorously, I ask the ‘official’ what we’re talking sponsorship wise [money wise] and deadly straight faced they looked at me and said, “How much do you need?” Slightly caught off guard I mentioned “$50,000″, to which the ‘official’ replied, “You can already count me in for $500, I enjoy development and new business ideas, as for my ‘official supervisor’, pitch the idea to his other ‘official’ over here [his daughter] first and see where it goes.”

Now, through that coded mess, what are we to make of this? Simply put it means this, the company I work for, works with other companies; one of these other companies is in the proximity of where WPSLKC is hoping to play. The owner of this company loves to invest in community ideas, and more importantly, loves to invest in all things soccer.

$50,000?

It could be resolved that quickly.

More importantly though; if that is not the display from God I needed that said, “Keep going”, I don’t know what is.

Naturally, as things progress, there will be much, much more to come.

Mobile Minutes: Smokey Joe’s

All I can say is that when a slab of ribs…a full slab…is $12.99…

…you never know what you’re going to get…

Yay for Jim’s birthday.

Mobile Minutes: Water to Wine

Ok, all of you theological geniuses, no judging allowed.
We talk frequently about Jesus’s first recorded miracle, water to wine, and I always think back to the man saying,

“Many serve the best wine first, but you saved the best for last.”

It didn’t really dawn on me until tonight what Jesus was emphasizing in this miracle; our life here may be what we perceive to be ‘choice wine’, like what was originally served at the wedding. However, God brings in a wine at the end that is far superior, He saves the best for last; our ability for eternal life.

Just kind of hit me.

P.S. IT WAS NOT GRAPE JUICE! THE BAPTIST CAN JUST ACCEPT IT!

One: I would like to point out how SWEET this jersey looks for FC Indiana [part of the league that I'm develping WPSLKC for]

Two: Note the Proverbs 1:7 on the jersey. Out of curiosity; I contacted the team to discuss what that was all about, as most jersey’s tend to be used as advertisement of sponsors. The answer I received…

It’s from our number one sponsor…

Need I say more?

P.S. You can purchase these jersey’s for yourself, in both genders [non-soccer fans, there is a substantial difference of fit between male and female jersey's] for $70.00 USD. This is the company looking to making the jersey’s for WPSLKC in ’13

Mobile Minutes: Sleeping Thought

More Guatemala news in the making.
Share tomorrow.
In the end it boils down to this:
God used a divorced, arrogant, manipulative, wishy-washy Christian who lost it all less than a year ago; to do amazing things through.

So, I want to ask this question…

What’s your excuse!?!?

#getyourpraiseon

This took off a bit more than I had anticipated [I know God is smirking]…

Earlier this week I made a lovely posted about myself and my entertainment with the 50 soccer balls.

Today, God demonstrated that not only does He provide, but He also has a sense of humor:

Via Twitter this afternoon:

I would like to give you some stuff to take down to Guatemala, mostly youth soccer stuff if you have room for it

Via Facebook this evening:

Will c what i can find. May have cleats still decent in condition, have cones. Will c what i have over spring break when im in texas

So it has gone to a few soccer balls, that originally seemed like a large number, to nearly all the supplies needed for a team. Factor this in with the news of the clinic leader down in Guatemala City, and a young 15 year old several years ago that professed to his church that God is calling him to the mission field…

…I’ll let you connect the dots.

I know I need to get to bed, heading out west tomorrow, but I have this undying desire to put my cleats on.

God is good.

Get your praise on.

P.S. Should anyone reading this have the wonderful, willing desire to donate as well. Please contact me at our sites e-mail address; filingthepapers@gmail.com

P.S.S Did anyone else notice that we broke the site record for most hits in a day with 244?

X: How many soccer balls fit in a carry-on?

This is the question.

That answer?

As many as we can [without looking that strange in customers].

As I have hinted in the past entry, I’ll be heading with a team down to the beautiful country of Guatemala in June. It was noted as of late that I would be assisting, heading a team to put on a ‘soccer clinic’ with the local kids down there [meaning that those kids are going to embarrass me]. Now, please understand, for all of you sipping your lattes [me]; we have to understand that even when we ‘struggle‘ financially; we have so much more than we can imagine.

That seems to be ‘common knowledge’ to many of us, yet we do little to utilize our blessings to our advantage. While at my small group last Thursday I was posed with this challenge: Find 50 soccer balls, deflated, to take down to Guatemala and leave with the kids.

I accepted this challenge. Now, I’m not the most financially savoy person, but at $15 a ball, multiplied by 50; my hands would be quickly tied. That’s when I started to think about NCAA schools and the fact that they tend to use balls for one or two seasons, and then they discard them when getting an entire new group for the upcoming season.

Why not get a hold of those extra balls?

I sent out multiple e-mails to a few local colleges and waited, and waited, and waited…

Then, after an insanely stressful day of dealing with some horrifically mean people [and replacing the face of my EVO thanks to some lovely folks at Sprint]; I noticed that I had an e-mail notification from my ‘business’ e-mail page, after opening it, this is what I found:

Thank you for the email and I am more than happy to help out! I coach club in KC and I know we have extra ball laying around as well. I will gather a couple trash bags full of balls and let you know when I have them! Look forward to working with you in this awesome cause, thanks again!

BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE [had to throw that in there]!

Realistically, it’s these kind of blessings that I live for, just because through the harsh, cold wind and attitudes of the day; this made me smile.

#getyourpraiseon

As goes with my constant battle with finances.
New loans kicked in.
Getting nervous.
Just did some number crunching.
His love never fails, we are going to make it.
Thank the Lord.
