Oh the sweet smell of spring…
Paying utility bills this morning and thanks to a fireplace, open windows, and a budget conscious wife, our electricity and water combined for $150 last month. That’s $50 below our allotted budget!

Adulting win!

Numbers, numbers, numbers.

January hasn’t been the most exciting month. We work, cook, workout, and repeat. Why? Darco and u declared a set time period from Christmas to month’s end as a ‘no spend’ period. This is partially due to the six week period of no pay for teachers (Christmas Break), and partially for financial discipline.

Heading into our final week I reviewed our budget parameters on our trusty BillGuard app. Our fuel consumption is currently at 50% of our monthly budget, along with groceries. We’re near 60% for eating out of the house as well.

I would lie if I said not blowing money after Christmas is fun, but the hesitance to spend now greatly influences future financial opportunities.

It’s worth it. It’s definitely worth it.

Mobile Minutes: Scary Productivity

Budget reports. Spreadsheets. Laundry. All accomplished this weekend (and more). With Monday here I confess that my weekend was rather tranquil, but it was also productive. Darco and I hit the books last night, compiling data into new spreadsheets for our family budget.
I also “digitized” a resource used at work, now instead of a massive binder I have everything I need at the access of my phone and tablet (shoutout to Google Drive).
Also, aside from being in the gym, I also experimented with a new hoodie design. Something that I hope one day can become a reality.

Has gone over really well in the Instagram world.

Overall, I’m blessed to have said that my weekend was productive.
Hello Monday!

I think this is long overdue, but tonight finally sealed the notion in my head. Regularly we take for granted what we have without realizing how absolutely incredible it may be. Personally, if you haven’t gathered lately, I’ve been a rolling ball of stress who gets sick, doesn’t have answers, and struggles with the day-to-day.

This is not the image that should be displayed.

Enter my girlfriend. Not only has she taken care of me for the past several days of being under the weather [the third time since we’ve been together mind you], but she’s been pushing me [beyond the concept of a juicing concept]. She’s recently been assisting me on the budgeting aspect of my life. In the past, as noted; I’m not the best at finances and it has been a constant flaw in my makeup. My girlfriend has taken hold of that and has decided to push me in the right direction. Today we sat down and looked at a new macro budgeting guide built on an Excel platform. While it is daunting, annoying, and relatively close to everything I hate; I’m grateful.

Why?

Because the effort being put into me. She is investing in me. She knows my struggles, and loves me regardless. She isn’t trying to change me; she’s merely helping me grow in an area that I’m weak at, and she’s strong at.

This is something new for me.

For that I am blessed.
